The Caffè Florian opened on December 29, 1720, in the Piazza San Marco. It has been serving coffees, teas, pastries, and sweets to patrons from around the world for over 275 years and has truly become a symbol of Venice.
On April 27, 1996, Virtualia, Italy's first cyber café, was opened. Along with some exquisite coffee drinks, they now boast four lines dedicated to the Internet, a line for virtual reality games, and ninety-six terminals that can be used for on-line chatrooms.
You'll be visiting both of these famous cafés as we explore Italians' love of coffee and conversation.
